Konos Day Two
Wow! We had a fantastic day one with Konos! There is just so much to pick from that I want to do it all. Not a good idea! We've been reading our Africa, Egypt and snake books the last couple of days. Tomorrow (Monday) we'll do day 2:
1. Colour zones to show weather areas on our map of Africa.
2. Continue to read about Egypt
3. Bible: Talk about areas of stewardship and what we can do to help.
4. Look at pictures of the Sahara desert on the net and talk about what animals live there.
5. Take an internet tour of Egypt today.
6. Bedtime reading tonight: An encyclopedia article of deserts
7. Talk about mirages, where they happen, what they are and make one of our own.
8. Place the three African deserts on our map: Sahara, Namib and Kalahari
9. Read about the Sahara desert scorpion and find out how to treat it's bite. Place scorpion cutout on our map.
10. Talk about the caracal cat and watch it run via the internet.
11. Talk about the mongoose and read a story about it.
All in all a very busy day! Still we'll have fun with it.
In the morning we are doing our LLATL and math (math u see primer). I'm really loving LLATL-I think it's just a really good fit for us!
Oh, and Ethan is listening to the Magic Tree House books about Africa. This week is one about Mummies, which seems cool given that we are studying Egypt.
Today we went to our local state park to see a presentation on snakes of Indiana. The guide got out four snakes including a copperhead. Wow! Ethan LOVED it! We've also been to the Nature Center to see their exhibits and snakes as well! We also hope to visit the Children's Museum's Egypt exhibit and the L ousiville Zoo's African animal exhibit. God is so good to put lots of this stuff in our path as we are st udying Africa!
Til later!
Michele and Ethan
